Six League of Ireland Premier Division games postponed due to Toulon Tournament

Six League of Ireland Premier Division clashes have been postponed as a result of the Ireland U21's involvement in the Toulon Tournament.

Seven players, including two from Waterford FC and three from UCD have been called up to Stephen Kenny's squad for the tournament, which begins on 3 June.

Rules state that a club can postpone a league fixture if they are without at least two players due to international duty.

The club's affected are Waterford, who'll be without Zach Elbouzedi and Aaron Drinan, and UCD, who'll lose Neil Farrugia, Conor Kearns and Liam Scales.

The following fixtures have been postponed as a result:

31/05 – Derry City v UCD
31/05 – Waterford v Shamrock Rovers
08/06 – UCD AFC v Bohemians
09/06 – Cork City v Waterford
14/06 – Derry City v Waterford
14/06 – Dundalk v UCD

Bohemians and St. Pat's will be without Darragh Leahy and Jamie Lennon respectively - but their fixtures will remain unaffected.

The 31 May clash of Waterford v Shamrock Rovers was due to be shown live on RTÉ, but the broadcaster will now show Saint Patrick’s Athletic v Cork City instead.

Kenny's side kick off the tournament against China on 3 June. They then face Mexico, and conclude the group phase against Bahrain on 9 June. The latest date Ireland could be involved in the tournament would be 15 June.
