KANCHANABURI: Six Myanmar migrants were arrested for illegally entering the country in Sai Yok district of this western border province on Sunday morning, police said.
A combined military-police patrol stopped a Toyota Vigo pick-up for a search on the Bong Ti - Sai Yok road at about 6.30am.
Five Myanmar men and one woman were found in the vehicle driven by Thitikan Chanruang, 28, a Thai woman from Kanchanaburi.
The migrants said they had travelled across the border from Dawei and Bago townships in Myanmar and were heading to Sam Phran district of Nakhon Pathom province for jobs.
They said they had paid 18,000-20,000 baht each to job brokers. Ms Thitikan said she was to be paid 3,000 baht per head after the migrants had been brought to their worksites.
The migrants were handed over to Sai Yok police station, where they were charged with illegal entry and violating the Communicable Disease Act. Ms Thitikan was charged with providing assistance to illegal border crossers.
