Six games from the 2019-20 season to rewatch during the NBA hiatus

With all basketball put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NBA is providing free access to League Pass. Games from this current season and classic contests from the past are available to stream free of charge during the NBA’s hiatus.

While the state of the Warriors 2019-20 season may be dramatically different from the past five seasons, there were still some encouraging moments in the inaugural season at Chase Center.

Steve Kerr and the Warriors coaching staff have had to get creative with how they manage their rotation while dealing with many injuries throughout the season. Without Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Golden State has opened up a bevy of roster spots for rising players like Marquesse Chriss, Eric Paschall and Damion Lee.

With many hungry players joining Golden State in hopes of proving they belong in the NBA for the long haul, the Warriors have registered some gritty performances that are worthy of a re-watch.

To help satisfy your basketball fix, Warriors Wire went back through Golden State’s season to find the most rewatchable games from this year while League Pass is free.

Honorable Mentions:

Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

November 15 vs. Boston Celtics, 105-100 Loss

Five different members of the Warriors scored in double digits. However, it wasn’t enough to hold off the red hot Boston Celtics in the final minutes.

December 11 vs. New York Knicks, 124-122 OT Loss

The Warriors mounted a furious comeback in the second half to push the New York Knicks into overtime. D’Angelo Russell and Alec Burks combined for 50 points — yet Marcus Morris was better. The Kansas product iced Golden State’s comeback with 36 points for New York.

December 31 at San Antonio Spurs, 114-113 OT Loss

The Warriors and Spurs paused everyone’s New Year’s Eve plans with an overtime battle in San Antonio. A tight-game throughout with a near triple-double from Draymond Green made for an exciting finish. Golden State went cold in the final period while Dejounte Murray tallied seven points to seal the Spurs victory.

January 20 at Portland Trail Blazers, 129-124 OT Loss

Whenever Damian Lillard laces up against the Golden State Warriors — there’s bound to be fireworks. Lillard rewrote the history books with a stellar 61 points on 17-of-37 shooting. Russell and Burks combined for 60 of their own to push the game into overtime.

November 4 vs. Portland Trail Blazers, 127-118 Win

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

When Lillard and the Trail Blazers made their trip to San Francisco, the Warriors’ season was up in the air. Only a few days prior, Golden State’s two-time Most Valuable Player was ruled out for the next couple of months due to a broken hand.

The Warriors had lost five of their first six games and were getting desperate. Against the Blazers, Golden State’s second-round pick arrived on the NBA’s stage. The rookie broke out for 34 points on 11-of-19 shooting with 13 rebounds to carry the Warriors to their first win in Chase Center history.

November 11 at Minnesota Timberwolves, 125-119 OT Loss

David Berding-USA TODAY Sports

Anytime a proficient scorer like D’Angelo Russell cracks a new career-high, it’s worthy of a rewatch. Before being moved to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the NBA trade deadline, Russell dropped 52 points on 19-of-37 shooting with seven 3-pointers against his new team.

However, Andrew Wiggins was putting on an impressive audition of his own. The new Golden State small forward added 40 points for Minnesota with seven assists, five rebounds and three blocks in the overtime game.

December 25 vs. Houston Rockets, 115-104 Win

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Upsetting James Harden, Russell Westbrook and the Houston Rockets on Christmas Day? It doesn’t get much better than that for Warriors fans.

Draymond Green put together one of his best performances of the season on Christmas Day with 20 points, 11 rebounds and three assists against the Rockets. On the defensive end, Golden State held Harden to 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting and 0-of-1 from the free-throw line.

Throughout the game, there were shades of “Roaracle Arena” vibes in San Francisco’s Chase Center.

February 29 at Phoenix Suns, 115-99 Win

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

With only eight players available, Golden State quickly fell down by 18 points in the first half. Yet the understaffed Warriors completed a gritty turnaround to win the game by 16 in Phoenix.

The rookie duo of Paschall and Mychal Mulder provided a spark off the bench for Golden State combining for 39 points. Every member of the Warriors scored in double figures except for Juan Toscano-Anderson.

March 5 vs. Toronto Raptors, 121-113 Loss

Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

After missing 58 games, Stephen Curry made his long-awaited return to the Warriors lineup. The six-time All-Star scored 23 points in 27 minutes with six rebounds and seven assists.

While Golden State dropped the 2019 NBA Finals rematch against the Raptors, Curry provided some vintage moments in his return. Golden State’s sharpshooter buried three 3-pointers with one coming at the end of the shot clock and another that set up a four-point play.

March 7 vs. Philadelphia 76ers, 118-114 Win

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Another depleted rotation for the Warriors provided a thriller just two games before the NBA suspended the 2019-20 season. Curry was ruled out for the second game od his return with the flu, but his backcourt partner filled his role nicely.

Damion Lee led Golden State with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field. The Warriors were trailing with under two minutes remaining in the final quarter. However, a clutch shot from Lee fueled Golden State’s upset against the playoff-bound Sixers.
