Six Galleries to Visit in Taipei

As one of the first cities in Asia to develop a contemporary art scene, Taipei is home to hundreds of art galleries.

For starters, the iconic Eslite Gallery located in the center of the city is a great place to visit — highly accessible by public transit. The gallery exhibits the works of both well-known and forthcoming Taiwanese artists, and is said to be an "important supporter of ethnic Chinese artists."

People interested in experimental art should pay Chi-Wen Gallery a visit, as it is one of the galleries leading the way for a new generation of art expression. The gallery is devoted to discovering young artists and in promoting new media art. Other such galleries include Project Fulfill Art Space and Double Square Gallery.

For those intrigued by Taiwan's contemporary art landscape, ITPARK is the art gallery to visit. It was founded by a group of artists and showcases some of the most renowned art pieces in the country.
