Six Flags’ world record-breaking rollercoaster will open in Texas next week. Here’s what you need to know

The world’s first giga dive coaster is set to open at Six Flags Over Texas next week, debuting a ride the park says will break six world records.

The Tormenta Rampaging Run will officially open June 26 in Arlington as the centerpiece of Six Flags Over Texas’ 65th anniversary celebration.

Inspired by Spain’s Running of the Bulls and set in the Rancho de la Tormenta area of the park, the ride blends giga coaster scale with dive coaster drops for a high-speed experience. A giga coaster is a massive 300 to 399-foot steel coaster built for speed, huge drops, sweeping turns and airtime rather than inversions.

Thrill seekers will climb 309 feet before pausing at the edge. Then, "just like waiting for the release of the bulls, the train will release, plunging riders into a record-breaking 95-degree, beyond vertical drop complete with sharp turns followed by other exhilarating drops that replicate the thrill of the running of the bulls,” according to a news release.

Riders will sit in three rows of eight with over-the-shoulder restraints as the coaster climbs to its record-breaking height and reaches speeds up to 87 mph. It also features a 285-foot drop followed by a 218-foot Immelman inversion and the world’s tallest vertical loop - which reaches a straggering 179 feet. The ride continues with additional twists, loops, and a final drop before finishing.

Riders must be between 48 and 76 inches tall to board the Tormenta Rampaging Run.

Six Flags says the coaster will break six world records, including the titles of tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster.

“Six Flags Over Texas has always been a leader in creating unforgettable experiences, and with Tormenta Rampaging Run, we are soaring to new heights,” Mark Boyer, vice president and park manager of Six Flags Over Texas, said in a statement. “This coaster is a true testament to our commitment to providing world-class thrills and innovation, and we can't wait to bring this historic ride to life in 2026.”

Beyond the coaster itself, guests will experience the reimagined Rancho de la Tormenta area, an immersive Spanish village featuring colorful banners, music and themed attractions. The redesign includes the removal of three older rides: Conquistador, La Vibora, and El Diablo.

The new area will be designed as an immersive Spanish village featuring colorful décor, music, and storytelling centered on a legendary bull named Tormenta, known for his strength and speed. Guests will also find a new restaurant, Cocina Abuela, offering Spanish and Latin American-inspired dishes such as Spanish rice, papas bravas, chicken tinga and fresh guacamole.
