Six fire engines race to ongoing Glasgow home blaze

Firefighters are battling a blaze in a home in the Govan area of Glasgow.

Six engines raced to the early morning inferno on Elder Street at around 6.12am.

One appliance remains at the scene tackling the fire - which is said to be in a 'dwelling house'.

The cause of the fire and whether there are any injuries remains unclear.

It's the second fire in the street in a week after a man was seriously injured after a fire ripped through his home in Elder Street on around 9pm on Sunday, September 21.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman told the Record: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 6.12am on Friday to a dwelling house fire.

"Six appliances were sent to Elder Street to tackle the fire.

"One appliance is still in attendance."

Worried locals have raised concerns that it is the second blaze in a week.
