Six Education Authority buses damaged in "reckless act" in Downpatrick

Six school buses were badly damaged in an attack in Co Down last week.

Police are appealing for information following the attack on the six parked Education Authority buses in the Ardglass Road area of Downpatrick sometime between 8.30pm on Thursday, July 28, and 9am on Monday, August 1.

Police have said that the "reckless act of criminal damage" will have a "detrimental impact" on local children who rely on the buses.

Sergeant Curran said: “Sometime between 8.30pm on Thursday 28th July and 9am on Monday 1st August, it was reported that six buses parked in the area were damaged.

“This reckless act of criminal damage will have a detrimental impact on a number of children from the local community who heavily rely on this important service.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident, to contact police in Downpatrick on 101 quoting reference number 345 02/08/22.
