Six ducklings on M5 saved after perilous attempt to cross motorway

Eagle-eyed traffic officers from Highways England flew into action to rescue ducklings in distress on the M5.

A patrol spotted the six fluffy bundles trying to cross the busy carriageway at J5/4A, northbound, around 1pm today (Sunday, April 11).

Never ones to duck out of a challenge, officers swooped into action and got them out of harm's way.

Highway's England tweeted: "Have we got a Ducktale for you!

"Traffic officers managed to rescue these six adorable ducklings from harm trying to cross the M5 today. It was our absolute pleasure to ensure these little ones were safe."

The little ones were saved on the stretch of the motorway between junction five for Droitwich Spa and junction 4a for the Catshill Interchange.

It seems these or other ducklings may have had a go at the perilous crossing before.

Veterinary nurse Megan Poole contacted Highways England when she saw some ducks on the road on the evening of April 3.

She tweeted: "Glad these little ones were saved!"
