Six Democratic presidential candidates will speak at the SEIU forum

At least six Democratic candidates will attend the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) presidential forum in October. Members of the labor group will get to directly ask candidates questions about their plans for the economy, wages and “how they would make it easier for all working people to join together in unions,” according to SEIU.

Why it matters: Democrats are taking labor unions more seriously, and they’re an important voting bloc up for grabs in the 2020 election.

  • Joe Biden, Julián Castro, Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, and Elizabeth Warren will attend the SEIU presidential forum Oct. 4 and 5 in Los Angeles.
  • The group has held similar forums in the 2008 and 2016 cycles.

What they’re saying: “We want to hear who has the strongest plan to rebalance power in America so working people can get a seat at the table at work and in our democracy," said SEIU president Mary Kay Henry.
