Six babies born on Leap Day at Glendale Adventist

March 02--Six babies were born at Glendale Adventist Medical Center on Leap Day Monday, which means they technically get to have their birthdays celebrated once every four years.

One of them was Samuel Pallares, who arrived about three weeks earlier than expected, but that's all right, said his mother, Gloria Sosa-Pallares.

"He happened to come a little earlier, but that just makes it even more special," she said.

While she wasn't expecting a Leap Day birth, Sosa-Pallares already knows how she's going to handle his first birthday and later ones down the road.

"Unfortunately, it won't be on his birthday, that only comes every four years, so [the party] will either be on the day before or after," Sosa-Pallares said.

She lives in Baldwin Park with her husband, Dominic Pallares, who works at Glendale Adventist. She thought she'd have a good amount of time to make it down to Glendale, given her experience giving birth to two other children, Sosa-Pallares said.

Samuel came out a little on the small side, weighing 5 pounds and 11 ounces, but he's perfectly healthy otherwise.
