The Sivakarthikeyan - Mohan Raja film Velaikkaran was one of the anticipated Dussehra releases. The film was set to lock horns with Mahesh Babu’s Spyder, and the box-office battle was going to be very interesting. In a sudden turn of events, the film’s release has been postponed from September 29 to December 22 and cash in on the long Christmas weekend. In a statement, the makers clarified that the reason for postponement of release is pending shoot and not to evade the clash with Spyder at the box-office.

In a statement, it was said that the film has been made on a big budget. Two more songs are left to be shot and the process is taking longer than expected. Hence, the makers didn’t have a choice but to postpone the release as they don’t want to speed up the shoot and hamper the output. In the film, which marks his Tamil debut, Fahadh Faasil is said to be playing the antagonist and he will be seen flexing out with Sivakarthikeyan. In the second poster, we can see mugshot of Sivakarthikeyan and Fahadh whose combination is something to look forward to on the screen. The film also stars Nayanthara, who is teaming up with Siva for the first time and their combination is sure to garner a lot of attention. Velaikkaran also stars Sneha and Prakash Raj in crucial roles.
The first poster of the film was released not long ago. Amid speculations that the poster was a blatant copy of the Michael Douglas starrer Falling Down, the film earned enough attention when its teaser and the first song were released. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for the film.
