Site chosen for new ambulance station at Medowie

A site has been chosen for the new NSW Ambulance station at Medowie, the state government has announced.

The purpose-built facility, set to be opened next year, will be constructed at 30 Ferodale Road.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the station was an investment in regional health infrastructure.

"Our paramedics need the best possible workplace to provide emergency medical care and this new station will make a real difference to their working environment," he said.

NSW Ambulance and Health Infrastructure used modelling that mapped Triple Zero calls to choose the Ferodale Road site.

Labor Port Stephens MP Kate Washington welcomed the announcement, saying the government had listened to the community's pleas.

"To achieve faster response times, the government must ensure our area receives additional ambulances and paramedics along with the new building," she said.

"Our local paramedics are already overstretched trying to meet the needs of our community and they desperately need more funded positions to improve local response times."
