'Sit down and shut up' - The Queen's cousin takes a swipe at modern royals

Don't air your dirty linen in public, this was the message that came across loud and clear in an interview with the Queen's cousin during an interview.

Princess Olga Romanoff was being interviewed by Lorraine Kelly, on her ITV daytime television show, Lorraine, on Monday, May 10.

The royal family have been in the news almost daily recently. The death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip at the age of 99, followed by his funeral, and of course, the backlash from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 1 hour 25 minute interview with chat-show queen Oprah Winfrey.

Harry and Meghan's interview was watched by millions of viewers in the UK, following its broadcast 24-hours earlier on CBS in America.

In the interview, Lorraine said: "The Queen has this thing doesn't she? She never complains. Never explains. That comes from the Queen Mother, too.

"But her children and her grandchildren have given extensive TV interviews. We have seen that. Do you think that is the way ahead to sort of modernise the Royal Family?

"Or do you think people should just 'sssh'?"

Giving her view, Olga told the Scottish TV presenter: "Well, I was taught to 'sit down and shut up' and never wash your dirty linen in public, no matter what it might be.

"I think the Queen does it right."

Lorraine laughed and nodded, saying: "Yes. She just gets on with it."

It has been reported that The Queen, who is 95, could step back from royal duties following the death of her husband and that Prince Charles' monarchy could look very different.
