'Sit down and shut up' Queen's cousin takes swipe at modern Royals for 'airing dirty linen in public'

Princess Olga Romanoff has taken a swipe at 'modern Royals' using TV interviews to "air their dirty linen in public" during an interview with Lorraine Kelly.

Princess Olga, who is the cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, was speaking to Lorraine from her home in Kent about all things Royal when Lorraine asked for her thoughts on a shift in Royal behaviours to speak openly on TV.

In recent years, high profile TV interviews have been held with the Queen's son, Prince Andrew in regards to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and more recently with her grandson, when Oprah Winfrey interviewed Prince Harry with his wife, Meghan Markle in Los Angeles.

Keen to get Princess Olga's opinion on whether Royals should seek out such public interviews, Lorraine said: "The Queen has this thing, doesn't she?

"She never complains, never explains, that comes from The Queen Mother too, but her children and grandchildren have given extensive TV interviews, we have seen that.

"Do you think that's the way ahead to sort of modernise the Royal Family, or do you think people should just shush?"

Without hesitation, Princess Olga replied: "Well I was taught to sit down and shut up and never wash your dirty linen in public, whatever it happens to be.

"I rather think the Queen does it right!"

Lorraine agreed by adding: "Yes, she just gets on with it and works incredibly hard too."

Princess Olga was also on the show to talk about her upcoming documentary with Alexander Armstrong which delves into the lives of The Queen and her family, titled, 'The Queen and her Cousins', which airs at 9pm on May 10 on ITV.

The series explores Princess Olga tracking down other relations including Lord Ivar Mountbatten and his husband James to discuss their Royal links, heritage and more.

Lorraine returns at 9am every weekday morning on ITV. The Queen and her Cousins airs tonight, May 10 on ITV at 9pm.
