Two fundraising sisters tackled the West Highland Way to honour their grandfather.
Niahm and Fearne Tait walked the 96 miles recently in memory of their granddad David, a retired police inspector, who passed away last year.
Together they raised £2,000 which will be spent on life-saving equipment at Thornhill Medical Practice.
Dr Sarah Osmond and Dr Richard Ishmael received the cheque from Niahm and Fearne recently.
Dr Ishmael, who was Mr Tait's GP for 17 years, said: “It was a true privilege to be David’s GP for the last 17 years.
“Despite having quite significant health problems, he embraced life and lived every day to the fullest.
“He was always extremely grateful for whatever healthcare was provided to him, although we were all merely doing our jobs.
“Very well known and respected as a retired local police officer, he was a real family man who was adored by his granddaughters.
“I’m sure he would be proud of their amazing efforts and most generous donation.
“We have put the funds towards the purchase of much needed equipment to benefit patients – a new state of the art ECG machine and a bladder scanner.
“I for one will always fondly remember David and am pleased to see his spirit lives on through his loved ones.”
