Sister Sledge reveal how they unwind when they aren't lost in music

Sister Sledge have revealed how they unwind after their gruelling touring schedule — by indulging in macaroni and cheese and ice cream.

Two members of the legendary disco group, Debbie and Kim Sledge, say they love to indulge in their favourite foods, and enjoy some quiet time, when resting from “constant” touring at home in Philadelphia.

Debbie, 64, said: “We are touring all the time. It’s not a trouble when you are doing something that you love. But you don’t realise how much energy you are using until you stop.

When I do get home, I declutter my closet. I clean up. I get things straight. I eat mac and cheese and Dairy Queen ice cream and I see no one. I sit in a total quiet spot and just be.”

The duo, whose hits include We Are Family and Lost In Music, said they love performing in London, which they call their “second home”.

Kim, 61, said: “I get a lot of joy from coming to London. I love the history and the cultures of London. The deep regard and respect for all cultures.

"Also the food and the soul of the place. It is always good to come back.”

The sisters spoke after performing at the Children with Cancer Christmas Ball earlier this month at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

This year the ball — which was attended by celebrities Phil Tufnell, Michelle Collins and Andrea McLean, and hosted by Gaby Roslin and Anna Richardson — raised £750,000.
