Sister of woman who vanished without a trace in Dublin has new CCTV hope

The sister of a missing woman has urged gardai to team up with specialists in the UK to enhance grainy CCTV footage she believes could identify her younger sibling’s abductor.

Mother-of-one Esra Uyrun was last seen leaving her home in Clondalkin, West Dublin, early on February 23, 2011. Her family believes the 38-year-old was abducted between the time she set off from her home and the discovery of her car in Bray, Co Wicklow, that morning.

Although the vehicle, a grey Renault Twingo, was captured on CCTV driving toward a car park in the seaside town, a previous bid to enhance the blurry video and identify the driver was unsuccessful.

However, Berna Fidan said she is convinced the technology now exists to digitally enhance that image – a development she believes could finally crack the 12-year mystery.

She arrives in Ireland from London today ahead of the anniversary of Esra’s disappearance.

Berna, 57, said: “I’m meeting with a Garda superintendent and that gives me the opportunity to press for the CCTV footage to be looked at again.

“The expertise exists in the UK to do this and the technology is there. I need the gardai to send this over there.”
