Sister of speeding Range Rover driver adds him to her car's insurance AFTER being pulled over by police

A speeding driver is to be reported for driving without insurance - despite his sister adding him to her car's policy AFTER he was pulled over by police.

The silver Range Rover Evoque has also been seized following after it was stopped in Salford earlier today (Tuesday).

Police said they pulled the car over as it had been travelling at 47mph on Manchester Road in Swinton, where the limit is 30mph.

The male driver claimed he was insured on the vehicle, owned by his sister, but officers said it transpired his sister had added him to the policy after he was stopped.

And they said pleas not to prosecute him, as he may be disqualified, fell on deaf ears.

In a post on their Facebook page, the Salford neighbourhood policing team said: "This may evoke a response from careful drivers....

"The male driver of this vehicle was caught doing 47mph on Manchester Road in Swinton which is clearly a 30mph road. .

"When spoken with he claimed that he was named on the insurance policy. However, checks by the #TransportUnit officer quickly found this to be incorrect, despite his sister, the actual vehicle owner, adding him to the policy AFTER being stopped by Police.

"The driver asked if he could not be reported for driving without insurance and speeding as he already had 6 points on his licence and another 6 would cause him to become disqualified.

"Should have thought of that before speeding around in someone else's car without insurance I'm afraid!

"The vehicle was seized and the driver reported for the speeding and driving without insurance.

"A potential ban looms and no more roving the land for him!"
