
Egypt’s President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi underscored on Saturday the importance of cooperation to achieve common interests in the region.
In an address at the Baghdad Cooperation and Partnership summit, he said that Iraq has suffered severe consequences of terrorism and foreign meddling.
“Iraq has made major achievements, including defeating terrorism and maintaining its territorial unity,” he remarked, expressing his faith that the country will hold elections in October.
“We support Iraq’s stability and Arab and regional role,” he added, while underlining the tripartite cooperation between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.
“We are prepared to support the Iraqi government’s efforts to strengthen the national state to achieve security and stability, reject foreign interference and respect the sovereignty of Iraq,” he added.
“We must adopt united development policies to find solutions,” he urged the gatherers.
“We must stand united and support Iraq as it strengthens the state,” Sisi said. “Egypt is eager to help Iraq overcome challenges.”
