President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed Egypt’s keenness to provide full support to Chad during its transitional phase and to strengthen relations between their countries on various levels.

This keenness reflects the strong historic relations between the two countries, he said during a meeting in Cairo with head of Chad's Transitional Military Council Mohamed Idriss Deby.

Egypt's presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said Deby praised the close relations between their countries, expressing his deep appreciation for Egypt’s support during the current delicate stage that Chad is going through.

He emphasized the broad prospects for developing relations and advancing cooperation.

The officials also discussed several regional issues of mutual concern, including developments in Libya where they stressed the need for the withdrawal of all foreign mercenaries.

Sisi expressed his interest to continue cooperating with Chad in maximizing security, intelligence, and military cooperation to combat terrorism and extremist ideologies.
