Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi stressed on Wednesday that his country supports any steps that can achieve peace in the region.
This peace must preserve the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, allow them to establish an independent state and ensure Israel’s security, he added.
In a telephone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sisi hailed the deal reached between Israel and the United Arab Emirates to normalize relations, saying it was step forward in achieving the desired peace.
Sisi and Netanyahu also discussed regional developments in their call, reported the MENA news agency.
Moreover, the Egyptian leader warned Israel against taking unilateral moves that undermine peace.
Refraining from unilateral acts will pave the way for regional and international parties to exert efforts to resume negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis until they can reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, he stated.
The resolution must be based on the two-state solution, Sisi stressed.
