Sisi Directs Government to Speed Up Work at New Administrative Capital

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi has directed government bodies to enable an environment capable of stimulating investment and enhancing trust in the capacity and performance of the Egyptian economy.

He also called on his government to exert more efforts to push towards achieving development in Egypt, represented in the major national projects.

In a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Sisi also urged his cabinet to “respect the plan for the designed construction works in the New Administrative Capital (NAD), and to quickly complete works at the main axes and internal roads, in addition to coordinating works at the site.”

Last month, Sisi stressed the importance of committing to the set deadline of the NAD’s projects.

The government project, launched by Sisi in March 2015, plans to build a new administrative capital in the desert east of Cairo, with plans to include ministries, residential neighborhoods, artificial lakes, conference centers, hospitals and hotels.

Also on Monday, Sisi has directed government bodies to make available all arrangements in preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) that will be held in Egypt between June 21 and July 19.

He has also directed government bodies to make available all the necessary resources to ensure the success of the upcoming AFCON.

In that regard, the President chaired a meeting attended by Madbouly and several concerned ministers to discuss a number of issues related to the tournament, including security preparations, arrangements for transportation for teams and spectators, the provision of necessary medical services, the provision of fan IDs and tickets, media coverage; tourist services and hotel readiness, and preparations for opening and closing games.

The tournament should feature 24 teams from around the continent to play at venues in Cairo, Alexandria, Ismailia and Suez.
