Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi has defended the work plans implemented by the government in various sectors.

He stressed on Saturday that the government is mobilized in all sectors, and urged population control to attain the development goals of the country.

The president pledged to launch a national project to develop Egypt’s rural areas within three years.

“The Egyptian people will see the Egyptian countryside differently after three years,” he said.

Sisi noted that the government will complete the establishment of canals and stations to set up the needed irrigation and electricity networks.

The president reminded the citizens that during the power crisis, “electricity couldn’t reach rural areas.” Today, however, Egypt is exporting power to neighboring countries.

Sisi said that Egypt is upgrading 10,000 kilometers of railway lines across the country, adding that by the end of the year, all old locomotives and railcars will have to be replaced.

Responding to a question on development in the education sector, the president said: “I want to improve the living conditions of all citizens, but population growth is not giving us the chance to do so.”

Sisi warned that overpopulation and terrorism are the two biggest threats facing Egypt.
