Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has renewed his country’s full support for Kuwait’s security and stability, in light of Egypt’s keenness to maintain Gulf security.
Sisi met on Sunday with Kuwait’s ambassador to Cairo Mohammed Saleh al-Thuwaikh at the end of his six-year diplomatic tenure in Egypt.
According to presidential spokesman Bassam Rady, Sisi and Thuwaikh discussed the latest developments in the region, as well as economic and trade relations.
They also discussed means of bolstering bilateral cooperation in education and the increase of Kuwaiti investments in Egypt, especially in agriculture.
Sisi expressed his appreciation for Thuwaikh’s tireless efforts in supporting and boosting Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations.
Thuwaikh thanked Egyptian officials and people for their cooperation and support, Rady stated.
In another context, Sisi underscored Egypt’s support for the United Nation’s role in facing global and regional challenges while combating crime, drugs and terrorism.
He met Sunday with Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Ghada Wali to boost existing efforts to exchange expertise, activate the UN programs on drugs and crime in an integrated manner and on a global scale and maintain security and stability.
Wali underlined the activities on the UNODC’s agenda, especially the follow-up to the outcomes of the “Sharm El-Sheikh Declaration” issued by the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC/COSP9), which was hosted by the Red Sea resort from December 13 until 17.
