Siriki Dembele transfer warning as Rangers linked winger urged to beware 'difficult' market amid contract standstill

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has warned Siriki Dembele to be careful over his next move amid links to Rangers.

The 25-year-old appears to be edging closer to leaving London Road having been placed on the transfer list after failing to agree a new deal.

With Dembele entering the final 12 months of his contract, Fry insisted the club won't be forced to sell their star man in a cut-price deal.

He called for the winger, who the DoF has previously claimed was tracked by Steven Gerrard 's side, Celtic and English Premier League outfits, to be careful when making his next move.

Fry told the Peteborough Telegraph : “That (the transfer listing) doesn’t automatically mean we will sell him.

“It is the club policy to put players on the transfer list under these circumstances, but we would still expect a decent fee.

“Siriki needs to be careful. It’s likely to be a difficult transfer market this summer.

" Premier League clubs will only be setting their budgets right now and it could be the money available in the top two divisions isn’t as great as normal.

“You watch Siriki sometimes and you’d willingly pay a few bob for him, but on other occasions his body language will let him down."

Fry added that contact with Dembele's agent has yet to be resurrected after promotion to the Championship.

He added: “We want Siriki to stay, but he told me on Friday his agents would be in touch and as yet I have heard nothing.”
