Siriki Dembele Rangers transfer news as Peterborough chief opens door to exit snub after 'quiet' window

Peterborough winger Siriki Dembele has been offered the chance to remain at the Championship side despite on-going links with Rangers.

Dembele is due to enter into the final year of his contract and has been placed on the transfer list amid stalling negotiations over a new deal.

The player has reportedly been offered lucrative new terms but has yet to return to the table for talks, with the Premiership champions thought to be pursuing a deal.

Despite this director of football Barry Fry has extended an olive branch to the 24-year-old insisting he could still play for the Posh again.

Fry notes that there hasn't been a queue of suitors putting in bids for the playmaker despite interest from Steven Gerrard and clubs south of the border including Sheffield United, West Brom and Fulham.

He told the Peterborough Telegraph : “It’s been quiet as far as bids are concerned.

"And it could be that Siriki starts the season with us. If he does he would best advised to play his heart out for Posh as the transfer window remains open until September 7 and that gives him a month to impress someone.”

Dembele previously handed in a transfer request back in January as he looked to leave London Road but saw out the season at the promotion winners.

Club policy at the second tier new boys dictates that players will be added to the transfer list when they enter the final year of their deals.
