Sir Trevor McDonald to speak at black business event

Legendary newsreader and journalist Sir Trevor McDonald will be the keynote speaker later this year a black business event.

The Birmingham Black Business Show is taking place at the NEC in Solihull on June 17 and will welcome the ITV stalwart who spent more than 30 years on our screens as a journalist and broadcaster.

During that time, he anchored News At Ten and Tonight and was knighted in 1999. Sir Trevor McDonald will take to the stage as keynote speaker, sharing his journey into journalism and highlights from his career.

Other speakers include TV presenter and journalist Marverine Cole, legal manager at Facebook owner Meta Ade Ahmadu and Marvyn Harrison, the founder of Dope Black Dads which is a support group for black fathers.

The Birmingham Black Business Show returns for a second year and aims to celebrate and showcase excellence within the black business community, bringing together entrepreneurs, professionals and allies for a day of exhibitions, seminars and investor pitches.

It was launched last year by the organisers of the Black Business Show which takes place in London every October.

Michael Adeniya, chief operating officer of the UK Black Business Show, said: "We are so excited to be hosting the Birmingham Black Business Show for the second year running.

"The response to last year's event was outstanding and I cannot wait to see that magic yet again. Securing Sir Trevor McDonald is a real coup.

"When we started UK Black Business Show, we had ambitions to take it nationwide and, for us, Birmingham was the obvious first step outside of the capital."
