Sir Trevor McDonald confirmed as the new GamesMaster as it returns for E4 reboot

Sir Trevor McDonald OBE has been confirmed as the new GamesMaster in the classic TV show revival.

The 82-year-old journalist is best known for his career as a news presenter with ITN, but he's now breaking into the TV floating head arena with an entirely new gig on the E4 reboot.

Sir Trevor takes the helm from the late Sir Patrick Moore who appeared in the earlier series' six-year run with witty humour along with gaming tips.

Sir Trevor McDonald said about the new role: “I am delighted to be taking on this iconic role for a new generation of viewers.”

Sir Trevor will assume the face of the titular role GamesMaster meaning he will take on vital duties of setup amazing challenges while overseeing the contenders progress.

The aim of the game is to claim a legendary Golden Joystick Trophy, as the show is centred around games.

Who will be presenting GamesMaster on YouTube and E4?

The show will first be aired on E4's YouTube channel before going on the TV. Hosts of the show have been announced as esports and gaming host Frankie Ward, Robert Florence who will serve as creative consultant and passionate gamer Ty Logan.

What is Gamesmaster and when did it first air?

GamesMaster was the first UK television programme dedicated to computer and video games.

It was first aired on Channel 4 from 1992 to 1998.
