Sir Rod Stewart thanks fans as he hits one million followers on Instagram

Sir Rod Stewart celebrated a social media milestone as he hit 1 million followers on Instagram.

The Maggie May singer was delighted to collate such a huge following on the social media app that me made a special post to mark the occasion.

Posing by a swimming pool with a cup of tea, Rod looked relaxed as he wore a crisp white shirt and some matching sliders.

Alongside the snap, which gathered over 118,000 likes, Rod wrote: "Thanks to my million followers. Here’s to a happier and healthier New Year #million."

And many fans were quick to congratulate the 76-year-old.

One wrote: "Hi Sir Rod. I’m one of your one million followers. Thanks for your music and happy messages. Go well in 2022!"

Another added: "Cheers Rod! Right back at you."

While one said: "A wee cup of tea and a biscuit or 3 makes everything better!! Happy Hogmanay and a Healthy Happy 2022."

Rod has been very active on social media and even recently joined TikTok where his song, Do Ya Think I'm Sexy has become a trending video.

Back in October, Rod told his followers he was joining the video platform.

Speaking to the camera, surrounded by his band, Rod says: "TikTok has opened up a whole new world for musicians and their fans.

"And I can't wait to bring my brand of 'Rock and Roll' to the TikTok community. I enjoy finding new ways to share my music through RodTober and we will be doing just that. It will be exciting to see how the huge TikTok community of rock lovers respond."

In one of Rod's recent Instagram posts, he shared a Christmas gift he was given by his pal Ronnie Wood.

He was gifted the artwork of himself from the Rolling Stones legend, who painted it himself.

The 76-year-old shared the gift on Instagram, sitting on a grand staircase beside the portrait while clutching a trombone.

Writing to his one million Instagram followers, Rod said: "Ronnie's portrait of me for my Christmas present ...looking perplexed but at ease with life . Thanks mate. I'm also learning to play trombone for no apparent reason.. Sir Rod."
