Despite being double vaccinated, Rod will like the rest of the UK now need to quarantine for 10 days when he returns due to the latest rule changes.
Rod, 76, posted a picture of himself reading the French printed edition of the Daily Mail which bore the headline: "French Holiday Chaos. Thousands of Britons' plans ruined as sudden amber list rule change keeps double jabbed in quarantine."
And Rod joked: "Another fine mess."
France is currently an amber listed country and quarantine rules remains in place despite hopes for a relaxation of rules, like other countries from today.
Officials made the decision due to concerns over the Beta variant, which may be able to evade protection from the vaccine.
For travellers returning to Scotland, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hong Kong and Taiwan have been moved from amber to the green list.
All travellers will still need to take a Covid test before travel and within two days of their arrival back in Scotland from a green list country.
Cuba, Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma) and Sierra Leone have now been placed on the red list.
