Sir Paul McCartney had an aide to tie his shoelaces before he went on stage

Sir Paul McCartney had an aide to tie his shoelaces for him before he went on stage.

The Voice Kids star Will.i.am was shocked when he watched one of the Beatles star’s assistants tie his laces for him before he performed at Glastonbury in 2004.

Will flew into Worthy Farm on Sting’s helicopter and went side of stage for Macca’s set.

“As he was going on, somebody tied his shoe,” laughs Will.

“I was like, what he can’t tie his own shoes?”

He later discovered Sir Paul had a bad back, hence the aide. “He needed his shoe tier,” admits Will.

But Will dislikes “bag carriers” who mollycoddle celebrities.

“Unless my back is hurting, I can tie my own shoes,” he said, during an interview with Zane Lowe.

“As a matter of fact, I wear Balenciagas, so I don’t tie shoes.

Christian Bale's former aide claimed he would have to sniff the actor's armpits (Getty)

“Success f***s people up like that. It makes you think you’re the centre of the world.”

Shoe tiers are actually in a pretty fortunate position – in 2012, Christian Bale’s former aide claimed he would have to sniff the actor’s armpits before he went on the red carpet.
