Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has revealed the one Reds hero who could rival Virgil van Dijk for quality in defence.
Dutch rock Van Dijk has emerged as one of, if not the best, centre-backs in the world during his time at Anfield.
Having led Liverpool to Premier League and Champions League glory, he is now something of an icon to the club.
But when asked during an Instagram Q&A if Van Dijk was the most talented centre-half to pull on a Reds shirt, true Kop legend Dalglish admitted there was one man who could rival him.
“It is a close call between @VrigilvanDijk and Alan Hansen,” he wrote in response to the question.

“But they’re both injured at the moment. What a privilege Liverpool fans have been able to watch both.”
Dalglish was the man in charge when Liverpool signed Luis Suarez for a fairly modest £22.7m from Ajax.
Of course, the Uruguayan went on to almost lead the club to Premier League glory, as well as becoming one of the deadliest strikers in the world.

And explaining the decision to bring him in, Dalglish said: “I’d seen him play for Ajax and when Damien Comolli told me that Luis was available, I asked him to go for it because he is a fantastic player!”
Dalglish also spoke out about fellow Scot and current Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson, revealing they are indeed friends, but also taking a cheeky swipe at his new book 'Now You're Gonna Believe Us’.

“Andy is a great guy, and still very humble,” the now 70-year-old replied when asked if he was friends with Robertson.
“He is a very proud Scotland captain, which earns him brownie points! His book is also a 'great sedative’.”
