Sir John Soane's Manor House and Gallery to reopen next year with an exhibition by Anish Kapoor

One of west London’s famous country houses will celebrate its reopening with a new series of exhibitions.

Following a major restoration project the Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery will open in March 2019 with a solo show by Anish Kapoor.

The Grade I listed building — which was formerly the country home of British architect Sir John Soane — will reopen on March 16.

The newly refurbished gallery will stage three major exhibitions a year, featuring work from contemporary artists, architects and designers.

To pay homage to Soane’s legacy, Anish Kapoor will kickstart the programme of exhibitions at the gallery with a series of sculptures exploring architecture and the viewer. The show will run for five months, until August 18 2019.

The three-year conservation project, costing £12 million, has ensured that every part of the Manor will be open to the public for the first time in its history. The restoration initiative was brought about by Ealing Council and Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Trust, with the aim to establish the site as a destination for heritage and culture.
