Sir David Attenborough turns 90: Watch the beloved broadcaster's five best moments

As of today, the godfather of natural history is officially a nonagenarian. But while Sir David Attenborough might be entering his tenth decade and toasting his 90th birthday, he remains as tireless as ever.

Currently preparing to film Planet Earth 2, the naturalist and beloved broadcaster has no plans to retire and continues to travel the seven seas enthralled by the natural world.

From serving as the controller of BBC Two to being director of programming for BBC television in the 60s and 70s to presenting nine Life series, his joie de vivre and long list of accolades knows no limits. Sir David remains a pillar and mainstay of national television until this very day.

Famed for his measured, hushed intonation and gentle, balanced manner, in many ways, Sir David’s voice typifies the Englishness of the Beeb.

Here is a selection of his most quintessentially "Attenborough" moments.

From saying boo to a sloth to rolling around in the long grass cuddling baby gorrillas, Sir David is part and parcel of British culture.
