Sir David Attenborough thinks about ageing and his own mortality every day

Sir David Attenborough contemplating his mortality may be a difficult thing to read about Britain’s most treasured broadcaster and naturalist.  

The 90-year-old says he now thinks about his mortality every day as the loss of close friends and the effects of ageing forces him to address it head on. 

“I think about my own mortality every day,’ he told The Telegraph. ‘And not in a morbid kind of way, but I suppose in an observational kind of way.

'You suddenly realise you aren’t remembering proper names any more and whereas three years ago you could tread water in the conversation long enough for the name to come up and move on, you now know there is no point."

But his fans shouldn't worry too much. He may be 90, but Sir David is showing no signs of slowing down. His latest series, Planet Earth II, is being screened on the BBC now and Sir David has been busy travelling the country to promote it.
