Sir David Attenborough has quit Instagram just two months after launching an account to spread an environmental message.
The legendary broadcaster signed up to networking site back in September, with the intention of educating users about the drastic impact of climate change as he continued his life's work on social media.
However just two months after creating his page, the 94-year-old's account now states 'no longer active' in the biography section.
The takedown comes after Sir David broke records on the platform by becoming the fastest page to gain a million followers.
Sir David reached the feat in just four hours and 44 minutes - beating the record previously held by Jennifer Aniston's five hours and 16 minutes.
Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint has since managed to overtake Sir David, as he gained six figure followers in just four hours and one minute when he joined the site earlier this month.
Sir David had made his first foray into the world of social media in September with a specially recorded video message to fans explaining his motives in signing up.
"I am making this move... because, as we all know, the world is in trouble," he said in his first video message on the social media platform.
"Continents are on fire. Glaciers are melting. Coral reefs are dying... The list goes on and on."
"Saving our planet is now a communications challenge," added Sir David, who vowed to use the platform to share videos explaining 'what the problems are and how we can deal with them.'
"join me - or as we used to say in those early days of radio, stay tuned," he finished.
Fans from around the world rushed to follow his account and share welcome messages.
The message and launch of the account came just weeks before Sir David's latest documentary premiered on Netflix.
A Life On Our Planet, released on October 4, celebrated some of the defining moments in the broadcaster's decades-spanning career.
