Sir David Attenborough is appearing on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury

Sir David Attenborough will appear on the Pyramid Stage at around 2.45pm, the festival has announced.

Glastonbury Festival's official Twitter tweeted: “We’re incredibly pleased to announce that Sir David Attenborough will be making a special appearance on the Pyramid Stage at around 2.45pm today. Don’t miss it!”

The much loved presenter and activist is expected to speak about the threat of climate change - a major theme at this year’s festival.

The festival has banned single use plastics from the site since 2017.

Attenborough has been a high profile speaker on the risks of climate change and recently presented a BBC documentary on the problem. He also presented the  Blue Planet 2  which galvanized public awareness of plastic pollution in the world's oceans.

The festival is partnered with the chaity Greenpeace, which receives a share of the event's profits.
