It's not just Freddie Mercury and Elton John that the people want to know more about.
A new survey has revealed that the nation wants to see iconic naturalist and pioneer, Sir David Attenborough immortalised on the big screen
Ahead of the release of Elton’s John’s biopic Rocketman, Showcase Cinemas surveyed 2000 Brits via One Poll to discover which famous face should be given the Hollywood biopic treatment.
Mark Barlow, UK General Manager for Showcase Cinemas, said: "We’ve seen some fantastic biopics grace the big screen recently, and Rami Malek’s Oscar-winning performance as Freddie Mercury seems to have set a new bar as the highest-grossing music biopic of all time.
"We weren’t surprised to see national treasure, Sir David Attenborough, pick up the most votes for a would-be biopic. He’s arguably the most liked and trusted man in Britain and with his 50 years on-screen experience, we’re confident he’d give Freddie a run for his money at the Box Office."
British broadcasting icon Sir David Attenborough secured the most votes (19%), with former US President Barack Obama scooping second place (13%) and music legend George Michael rounding off the top three (11%).
The survey also asked film lovers which is their favourite biopic of all time, with the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody taking the top spot.
As well as being entertaining, biopics also serve as a source of information and more than half (53%) of those surveyed said they were likely to share facts they had learned from the biopic with their peers, with nearly half (44%) of cinema-goers saying they would happily watch a film about someone they aren’t familiar with.
