Sir Captain Tom Moore's grandson impresses viewers of Celebs Go Dating

Fans of Celebs Go Dating were left shocked when one celebrity's date revealed that he was the grandson of Sir Captain Tom Moore.

The NHS hero captured millions of hearts in the first lockdown back in 2020, and now, his grandson, Max, is looking to capture a heart of his own as he searches for love.

During the latest episode of the show, which aired on Tuesday, January 25, The Only Way Is Essex star Chloe Brockett, 21, enjoyed a double date with Max, The Mirror reports.

Chloe and Max were joined by former 5ive star Abz Love and his potential love interest for the occasion.

As they discussed their lives over dinner, Chloe asked the two dates about their families, and how close they are to them.

Across the table, Max said: “Over the last year and a half, two years, we got closer due to like...

“My, so basically, it's a weird story but my grandad got extremely famous in the first lockdown.

“You know Sir Captain Tom Moore? So that's my grandad.”

A shocked Chloe exclaimed: "So basically, you're more famous than me and Abz!”

Viewers of the E4 dating show were just as surprised as the TOWIE star, and took to Twitter to express their amazement at the casual bombshell Max had just dropped.

One wrote: “Dead at Abz from Five going on a double date alongside a man later revealed to be Captain Tom's grandson. #CelebsGoDating.”

Another social media user tweeted: “Hold on… was he joking about being Captain Tom’s grandson? #CelebsGoDating.”

One other show fan posted: “Is that Captain Tom Moores grandson? #CelebsGoDating.”

For the last 13 years of his life, the late Sir Captain Tom Moore lived in Bedfordshire with his daughter, Hannah, and her family.

After raising £33million for NHS Charities Together shortly before his 100th birthday during the first national lockdown, the hero was knighted in May 2020.

Sadly, Sir Captain Tom Moore passed away almost a year ago, in February 2021, after contracting Covid-19.

Celebs Go Dating made its return to E4 earlier this month with a shake-up as a host of celebrities prepare to be sent on dates by love gurus Anna Williamson and Paul C Brunson.

There is a competitive element to the new format of the show, with celebrities battling it out to become the 'star dater'.
