Sir Billy Connolly receives his first Covid vaccine jab

Sir Billy Connolly has been given his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

A photo of the iconic Scots comic, 78, getting his jab was shared on Twitter by his thrilled wife Pamela Stephenson.

The Big Yin wore a mask and had a plaster slapped over his tattooed arm while getting the vaccine jab in Florida.

Billy and Pamela, who have been married for 30 years, now live in the USA while the retired comedy legend battles Parkinson's disease.

He was diagnosed with the degenerative disorder in 2013 but claims it taught him life-affirming and inspiring lessons about the people around him.

Pamela has shared the news that he is half way to being fully vaccinated from coronavirus on social media.

The 71-year-old comedian and psychologist said: "Thank God... Billy had his first Covid-19 vaccine today!"

The tweet was welcomed by his fans who raced to send their support to the comedy legend.

Fellow Scots comic Janey Godley said: "Send him my love."

One person said: "Best wishes to you both and your family! I've been a huge fan of Billy."

A second person said: "Protect at all costs, great to see!"

A third person said: "Look at him. The coolest advert for getting vaccinated you could see. Rockin it."

A fourth person said: "Could you give him a hug from all of us please?"

A fifth person said: "Great to hear, I'm getting mine this morning and 2nd in the next 12 weeks. A step forward out of all this chaos."
