Sir Billy Connolly receives first covid vaccine jab from Florida

Sir Billy Connolly has received his first dose of the covid vaccine jab from Florida.

Posting with jubilation, wife Pamela Stephenson shared a pic of the comedian wearing a mask showing off a plaster on his tattooed arm.

She wrote: "Thank God... Billy had his first Covid vaccine today!"

Many took the time to wish Billy well.

Comedian Janey Godley wrote in response: "Send him my love".

Billy has enjoyed a festive season in Florida recently, following his decision to fully retire from a comedy career in pursuit of other creative endeavours.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2, Billy said: ""We do the same old turkey stuff but it's really good because two of my daughters have moved down here with their boyfriends and they live on the same street," said Billy. "It's lovely."

We recently reported how a statue of Billy Connolly has been kept in a basement after being commissioned a decade ago because it has been deemed 'too big'.

Fans are urging planning bosses to allow a statue of Billy Connolly to be erected on a pavement in Glasgow's West End.

The 3-ft deep bronze likeness was commissioned a decade ago by businessman Colin Beattie, a long-time champion of the arts, But has sat in a warehouse covered by a tarpaulin ever since.
