Sir Billy Connolly delights Glasgow restaurant staff by popping in for meal

The Big Yin enjoyed a night out in his hometown last night.

Sir Billy Connolly was spotted enjoying a slap up meal with some of his nearest and dearest in the city centre, ahead of today's Celtic match against Dunfermline.

The iconic funny man dined out at the popular Lychee Oriental restaurant in Mitchell Street, where head chef Jimmy Lee said it was a "real pleasure" to cook up a feast for the megastar.

He said: "Its always nice to see familiar faces in our restaurant enjoying themselves. Billy was lovely and it was a real pleasure to meet and cook for such an iconic star".

Sir Billy isn't the only famous face to frequent the popular eatery of late, with Jack Whitehall heading round while he was performing at the Hydro in recent months, and Kevin Bridges is also a regular.

But if you're after a bit of what the Big Yin had, you'll be opting for the seabass then.

Chef Jimmy Lee added: "Our menu offers a wide variety of asian style dishes and Chinese food is more popular then ever before with diners in Glasgow."

And it wasn't just the hospitality industry of Glasgow Sir Billy has been rubbing shoulders with today, as he's also been spotted at Parkhead for his beloved Celtic's Betfred Cup game against Dunfermline.
