Sir Andy Murray's business empire value fell 'by more than £3m last year'

Sir Andy Murray saw the value of his business empire fall by more than £3million last year, figures have revealed.

The three-time Grand Slam winner’s earnings dipped during a difficult 12 months which saw him sidelined due to injuries and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Murray, 34, has made huge sums through lucrative merchandising and sponsorship deals as well as property investments.

Latest accounts just published for his company 77 Management show it is valued at £22.6million.

That represents a drop of £3.4million from the year before when the value of the firm was £26million.

The company did not publish profit figures for 2020 as its turnover was less than £6.5million.

The latest accounts show the firm has total assets of £26.68million which include almost £14.9million held in a bank account, more than £8million owed by debtors and a £3.6million investment portfolio.

The accounts, which run up to December 31, 2020, state the company owed just over £4million to creditors.

Murray changed the firm’s name from Parched Investments to 77 Management to mark him becoming the first British man in 77 years to win Wimbledon.

The London company also controls the Cromlix hotel near his home town of Dunblane, Perthshire.

The firm paid just £7000 in tax during the year due to the drop in income.
