Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he got a little bit carried away when sharing a tale about Walter Smith pinching his assistant manager for his own at Rangers.
The two legends were good friends and Ferguson spoke at his memorial on Thursday after his tragic passing earlier this month.
Smith is one of the most iconic figures in the history of the Scottish game, held up there alongside Manchester United and Aberdeen legend Ferguson for his accomplishments with Rangers and the Scotland national team.
He even briefly worked with Ferguson as his assistant at Old Trafford before taking the Scotland job in 2004.
It was years earlier, however, that Smith was in the early days of his first spell as Rangers boss - and poached Ferguson's long-term assistant Archie Knox from under his nose.
Ferguson shared that tale at his memorial as he gave a heartwarming anecdote in tribute to the late Smith.
"Walter knew Rangers. It was a great appointment, it was the right appointment," Ferguson said.
"Unfortunately for me, he went and stole my bloody assistant manager.
"We were in the League Cup final, and I got the phone call. I told Walter I'd get him a couple of tickets, the phone goes and I'm thinking 'that's him wanting the tickets.'
"That dulcet tone was there. He says 'I've offered Archie the job'."
Ferguson then gave his immediate reaction - something he apologised for immediately, much to the amusement of those in attendance.
"I said 'Jesus Christ Walter.'
"I'm sorry - I think I'm allowed a swear word in the circumstances."
I think we'll let him off.
