Sir Alex Ferguson sends Leicester City warning to Liverpool

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has sent a Leicester City warning to Liverpool.

The Reds pipped the Foxes to the top four in the closing stages of the season to secure Champions League football for next season.

Leicester had occupied a place in theta four longer than any other side in the Premier League, but dropped out after the penultimate round of fixtures.

Liverpool finished the season in third place, two points ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea who were ahead of Leicester by a single point.

Ferguson was interviewed by Man United fan and actor James Nesbitt, for GQ , ahead of the release of a new documentary "Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In" this week.

The former Man United boss believes that Leicester impressed him despite not finishing in the top four, and have sent a warning to his former club as well as Liverpool.

"They were fantastic. You know, I enjoy watching Leicester, actually, because they play good football and they have a good recruitment operation. And they won the Cup (this season).

"So it can be done. It can be done. There's no question. We never should destroy people's dreams.

"The Leicester Cities make what we want in football today. It’s not always about United or Arsenal or Liverpool.

"It’s about a small club that can have its day in the sun, you know?”

And he believes that Leicester could have an advantage over Liverpool or United.

"I always think that one-town teams have a chance," he added. "Like Leeds in Leeds, Leicester in Leicester – you've got a chance of having a whole city behind you."
