Sir Alex Ferguson reveals 3:30am wake-up call from Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool won the Premier League

Sir Alex Ferguson received a rude awakening in more ways than one following Liverpool's Premier League title triumph.

Old Trafford legend Ferguson, who once declared that his greatest challenge was "knocking Liverpool right off their f*****g perch", watched on this year as Manchester United's fierce rivals finally got their hands on the League title after 30 years of waiting.

Klopp has obviously been key to that success, leading Liverpool to both Champions League and Premier League glory in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

It was only fitting that Klopp was awarded the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy after being named the League Managers' Association (LMA) Manager of the Year on Monday night, and Fergie had a special message for the Anfield boss.

Ferguson told Sky Sports: "The winner, Jurgen Klopp. Jurgen, fantastic. I speak about Leeds United and 16 years in the Championship, Liverpool 30 years since winning that league is incredible.

"You really thoroughly deserved it. Your performance level of your team was fantastic. Your personality runs right through the whole club. I think it was a marvellous performance.

"I will forgive you for waking me up in the morning at half-past three to tell me you won the league!

"Thank you. You thoroughly deserved it, well done."
