Sir Alex Ferguson pinpoints how Steven Gerrard has impressed him at Rangers

Steven Gerrard has had a stunning start to life as a manager, ending just under a decade of Celtic dominance to guide Rangers to the SPL title in just his third full season as a boss.

The Liverpool legend has also had to endure a number of off-field issues, including Rangers midfielder Glenn Kamara being the victim of racist abuse at the hands of Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela.

Gerrard's interview after the game received plaudits for the graceful way he handled such a tough topic and issued his full support to his player.

The former Premier League star has over a decades worth of experience when it comes to post-match interviews, but he appears to have transferred that skill into the art of post-match press conferences with the glaring eyes of the media hanging on his every word.

Few were better at articulately conveying their feelings after a game than Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson, who has recently heaped praise on Gerrard's ability to deal with the press.

In an interview with The Guardian, Ferguson explained : "Oh, he’s done magnificent. He really has, both on and off the field. A press interview can lose you your job in management.

"But Steven’s press conferences are fantastic. He’s cool, he’s composed, he gives the right answers. He’s really top because it’s an art.”

High praise from a man who occupied the hot-seat of one of the world's biggest clubs for 26 years, winning every major club honour in the process.

Gerrard's side have just two league clashes left, avoid defeat in both and they will have managed the incredible feat of going the entire campaign unbeaten.

Rangers stats for the season make for remarkable reading, having only conceded 13 league goals all campaign while also on course to surpass the 100-point mark for the first time in the club's history.
