Sir Alex Ferguson has named his greatest Manchester United captain during his reign as manager of the club.
And it's his first captain at the club, Bryan Robson, who he stated was 'easily' his greatest on-field leader.
The legendary United manager was speaking to the club's official website ahead of an upcoming new film based around Robson's United career.
Ferguson had a number of strong candidates, with Roy Keane, Steve Bruce, Eric Cantona, Nemanja Vidic, Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney to name a few.
However, Ferguson has touched on what made Robson different.
In a recent Q&A session with United's in-house media, Ferguson said: "Well, he was easily the best captain I had. I think over the period he was at United, he was the best player.
“The players loved him. They responded to him and he was the longest-serving captain in my time anyway.
“It’s difficult for a captain because sometimes he has to tell the truth to players, you know? The encouragement he’s got to give them sometimes can be quite volatile and he was like that, but the players did love him.
“They appreciated the time he took on them and another thing, he’s the only captain I knew who could make a decision on the pitch. He didn’t need to look over to me.
“He would do that and that’s unusual. In fact it’s very unusual because he had the balls to do that.”
Robson made 345 league appearances for United in his 13 years at the club, scoring 76 goals.
He won two Premier League trophies, three FA Cups and one European cup.
After a spell in management, Robson became a global ambassador for United, working with the club since 2008.
