Sir Alex Ferguson led Manchester United to the pinnacle of English and European football during his time at Old Trafford, winning a multitude of league and cup competitions.
During his 26-year reign, a number of world-class names walked through the door at United including Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney to name a few.
The Scot delivered many famous lines, none more iconic than the mission to knock rivals Liverpool "off their perch" and they did just that eclipsing their East Lancs Road rivals in honours with Sir Alex at the helm.
November 6 marks the day Ferguson replaced Ron Atkinson as United manager and this year means it has been 35 years since his appointment.
His run of 1,500 games in charge came to an end in May 2013 and in that year, he was asked probably a manager's most dreaded question about the best player during his time with the Reds.
"People ask you: 'Who is your best Man United team?' and it's absolutely impossible," he told Sunday World.
"It is absolutely impossible. You look at the strikers I had, going back to [Brian] McClair, [Mark] Hughes, [Andy] Cole, Cantona, [Ruud] van Nistelrooy, [Louis] Saha, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, [Dwight] Yorke, Teddy Sheringham.
"Then to the present players - Wayne Rooney, [Robin] van Persie, Chicharito [Javier Hernandez]. How do you pick out of that? Cantona and somebody else maybe?
"The midfield was probably a bit easier because you have [Roy] Keane, [Bryan] Robson and [Paul] Scholes - they were fantastic players - and [David] Beckham, Ronaldo and [Ryan] Giggs.
Whilst he labelled United's current talisman, Ronaldo, as the "most gifted", he did shed some light on one of the most consistent performers in his autobiography.
"Honestly, I would say Denis Irwin would be the one certainty to get in the team. I called him an eight out of 10," Ferguson wrote.
"At Highbury in one game, he had a bad pass back in the last minute and [Dennis] Bergkamp came in and scored. After the game the press said: 'You must be disappointed in that pass back.' I said: 'Well, one mistake in 10 years isn't bad.' He was an unbelievable player."
