Sir Alex Ferguson chats with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of Barcelona Champions League fixture

Sir Alex Ferguson and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been spotted chatting on the pitch ahead of Manchester United's fixture against Barcelona on Tuesday night.

United take on Barcelona in the second-leg of their Champions League quarter-final encounter as they look to make it to the final four of this year's competition.

Solskjaer's side know they must win the match if they are to have any chance of progressing to the semi-finals and they will need another miraculous performance if they are to do so.

United have already defied the odds once in this season's competition to defeat Paris Saint-Germain and require another comeback display at the Nou Camp.

Ferguson is back at the scene of perhaps his greatest moment in managerial history, after a Solskjaer goal secured his side their incredible Champions League victory which secured them the Treble twenty years ago.

Ahead of the match on Tuesday night the legendary manager was joined by Ed Woodward and Richard Arnold as the trio chatted and checked the pitch prior to kick-off.

The current United manager then ventured out onto the pitch himself where he spoke with Sir Alex on the near touchline two decades on from their famous night in the same location. Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Mike Phelan were also spotted in conversation with Sir Alex.

United have it all to do on Tuesday night and have only progressed from one of their four previous European ties in which they lost the first leg at home, though it was in the last round against PSG.
